You Can’t Always Get What You Want

“Only I can do that.”

“No one else knows how to do that.”

You may not be able to get everything off your plate by delegating, but you can funnel it down to only critical “you” items.

Do you feel like your business will implode if you don’t do everything? It’s OK to want to make sure things are done right, customers are treated correctly, and work gets done. But your employees are capable and may surprise you if given the chance.

Creating a standard, efficient process to follow will give you the comfort of knowing that things are being done right. And the additional free time to focus on more “you” critical items.

Do I believe that you can delegate everything to others? No, there are some important tasks and conversations that can only be done by the business owner. Do you have to do everything in the chain that leads up to those specific items? Again, no.

For example, if you only get late payers to pony up when you speak with them, first try sending automated reminders from your CRM (or use email templates & schedule them). Then, for those that are still outstanding, have your Virtual Assistant (or someone else) reach out via text or even a phone call. Sometimes, it’s just the reminder that a customer needs to remember to pay you. and finally, for those who are still resisting paying you for your work, then you can reach out directly and have that important conversation. This funneling will allow you to still get the results you need, but only require you to speak with those who are truly resistant, instead of just the forgetful people who need a simple reminder.

It's OK to let go of some aspects of your business operations. Especially if you have the right processes in place to make sure things are getting done while you focus on more critical things.
